Things to do in Firostefani

Firostefani sits on the same caldera-rim cliff as Fira and Imerovigli, a 10 to 15 minute walk from Fira's main square along a paved path with no traffic. It has none of Fira's shops or bus terminal, and none of Imerovigli's 300-metre height or proximity to Skaros Rock, which makes it the quiet middle ground of the three.

Like every caldera village, Firostefani has no beach: the sea is roughly 250 to 300 metres straight down, reached only by boat trip or by driving to Kamari or Perissa on the other side of the island.

Sunset here is watched from terrace bars and hotel pools rather than a single crowded viewpoint, a genuine alternative to the crush at Oia's castle, which fills up 90 minutes to two hours before sundown in high season.
