Things to do in Perissa

Perissa is the northern end of one continuous black-sand beach that runs south into Perivolos, split by convention rather than by any real gap in the sand.

It sits under the same Mesa Vouno ridge as Kamari, on the opposite flank, and it is the most common starting point for the climb up to Ancient Thira, the Dorian hilltop city at 396 metres.

The path up takes roughly an hour on foot in full sun, with no shade until the ridge, so most visitors go early morning or take a taxi partway. The black sand burns by midday, so bring sandals. Sunbeds and tavernas line the front, and the village behind it is quieter and less built-up than Kamari.
